As you will read on my biography page, twenty years ago I was fortunate to
have launched a business that allowed me to combine my love of art, and
antiquities. Throughout the years, I have had the opportunity to work with
many interesting clients, using antique postcards from their personal archives,
or searching for a hard to find card to create unique pieces
of artwork designed for each customer.
Many of you may not know, that for the past year, I have been conducting
research and writing a book that uses vintage postcards to tell the story
of the little known event called National Dog Week that has been
observed in the United States for eighty years. Once again, it's allowed
me to combine my old loves of antique postcards, art, and now, writing, and
dogs.
To that end, I am reaching out to clients, friends, and family, asking them
to share their personal stories of National Dog Week celebrations and
observances across the country. This year, National Dog Week
occurs the week of September 21st. It's not too late to plan an event, or
pass this along to someone who has done something special for dogs during NDW in
the past.
Groomers, Vets, trainers, rescuers, students, librarians, educators, and
civic leaders....all those who wish to honor our dogs during that week are
invited to share their "tails." Please just sent your contact information,
affiliation (if applicable) and contact information. Do not send
photos or attachments at this time.
Help keep National Dog Week alive and barking and sign up for
my Autonotify feature to keep informed about upcoming arts events, and book
news!
Sincerely,
Lisa Begin-Kruysman
